Your vacation includes the use of a four-person golf cart. When you
arrive we will meet you with the golf cart. You are
responsible for damage to the golf cart and keeping it charged. Only licensed drivers may
use the golf cart and no golf carts are allowed on the beach.

The house is at the west end of Conch Shell drive where it ends at Gulf Lane. There is a map link below for you that shows where the house is. It is behind the Casa de Flamingo our neighbor
to the west. If you turn North on Gulf Lane and walk five houses down you get to the
Schooner beach access. If driving, go two houses further and you get to Castaway Key beach
access where you can park your cart and walk to the beach.
| Adult and kids
bicycles are provided with the house. Please be careful
with them as you are responsible for their use. Riding bicycles on the island is a highly
enjoyable and an excellent way to get around. Also available is a Burley type carrier for
pulling children or suppliescall us for more information. |

Walking is a fine
way to get around on the island but bring sandals as the sand can get hot during the heat
of the day. Grassy areas can harbor sand spurs so be careful of going "cross
country". If you have little kids, strollers with big wheels work best in the sand.
Be sure to lotion exposed body parts.

This is a view of Safety Harbor. The Fish house is upper left as you are looking south southeast.
Look out for these traveling palms as you drive around the island. They aren't native but are very elegant.

view or print. |

Safety Harbor development changed the entire nature of the island. It bought property that crossed the island and then controlled traffic across it. No gas motors. Only electric motors. Before now the island was a wild west of vehicles but after Safety harbor no one could move North South without meeting their private road requirements. Now even some complain how souped up electric carts beat up the island. Others pine for the good old days when you could cruise in a VW dune buggy. |

Wedding day parking.

The road less traveled. This is why the south end is quiet. There are fewer people here.
