There is so much to do. Even if nothing much is your goal you can fill your day with
it. North Captiva has some community activities such as dance, singing, and exercise
groups. Look for signs of special events on the community bulletin board on Rum Road.
Keep
yourself and your schedule open as you will meet and make friends and opportunities here.
Kids will find things to do without the clammer and flash of video games--the beach, sun,
water, sand, and wildlife have an appeal that cuts through electronics.
Of course, if you
tire of paradise you can relax to a CD or video at your florida vacation home.
A power boat can add to your enjoyment but isn't necessary. This workhorse of a boat is our main mule in moving gear. It is a center console with cuddy top 24 ft Freeland with a 250 Hp Yamaha fuel injected salt water series engine. I got it fortuitously when our uncle needed a different boat.

We don't offer a club membership. While we can be sympathetic to just relaxing by the
pool with a tall drink while the kids splash in the distance that experience can be had at any club med type resort and doesn't
take advantage of the unique and spectacular outdoor beauties of this barrier island. At
one time North Captiva was to be part of a vast Miami style complex with highways traversing and
causeways bridging every island.
North Captiva is a residential island without cars, without pavement,
and without billboards or telephone poles. We'd like to help you get away from it all, get
close to our natural wonders and still have the comforts of home.

If there is an emergency, maximum help is a helicopter ride away. This is a helicopter at the air field at night with a woman who had a broken leg. It's 11 minutes from here to Lee county hospital. I was once evac'd by one and had the best medical attention ever from golf cart to hospital. There is a fire station on island with qualified emergency personnel.
